Quality Grub Goes Lokal

Quality Grub Goes Lokal

16 June 2014 - A new grub entry has made its way to Neil Road, probably not new to most of you if you have been to Sarnies. This is a collaboration between The Lokal and Sarnies, serving quality grub food and drinks that would not break the bank.

It was the first day of their opening during my visit, and I was welcomed by familiar faces and friends I made at Sarnies.

The Lokal offers only breakfast and lunch menu for the time being, while they are still working on their dinner items.

Here's a short feature of what I had today, starting from the interiors to the food and then drinks.

THE SPACE
Love the open kitchen concept. Ladies you can enjoy your food while interacting with the good looking chefs hehe :)

THE FOOD
Toastie of the Day - Triple Cheese and Mixed Mushrooms ($14)

Here's a hearty portion of what I had at lunch. The picture may not do justice to the toastie, but believe me I was "blown off" on the first bite and my friend actually finished everything within minutes.

The Lokal uses the best sourced raw ingredients they can get to make wholesome hearty food that everyone would love; such as daily soup with bread & homemade butter, roast chicken panini, roast pumpkin salad, smoked cherry wood chip mackerel & salmon and several more.

Everything are made from scratch, therefore you can be sure that quality is measured in every dish they serve to your table.

One of the chef recommendations here, is the Veal Schnitzel Burger with red slaw, grilled pineapple, emmenthal cheese, lettuce, anchovy mayo and served with chunky chips.

You probably don't find many places serving Veal burgers, as this classic dish may require hours of preparation in the kitchen, but you can get them easily and speedily here.

I am definitely going back to The Lokal to try this Veal-tastic burger.

Just a note if you are planning for lunch here soon, the lunch service hours are from 11hr30am till 15hr30pm. Breakfast is available from 8am, but I did not asked about the menu. Be sure to check them out very soon.

THE DRINKS
Besides coffee and tea, The Lokal offers Smoothies, Freshly squeezed juices and some organic sodas as you can see above.
Wine, Spirits and Craft Beers are available if you are looking for some booze. The popular Munich lager beer on tap will be ready by August, if that's what I heard correctly from the owners.

Coffee by Sarnies is always brewing if you care for a good cup of espresso.
Ever seen a Slayer in action? Now you can get the most out of your coffee at The Lokal.

This sleek V3 machine is more than just a dream machine, in truth the machine has been tested to pull shots from hundreds to possibly millions, and the barista here can really slay your coffee in style.
Chef Darren Farr supervising K-man (just kidding), he was actually admiring the works of the head barista. And the result was stunning.
Coffee by Sarnies are single origin from Colombian and Uganda. If you tried the coffee at Sarnies before, I guarantee you can trust the guys here.

Well, that sums up my short feature of The Lokal. I will probably be writing a full coverage after I return for more.

Do stay tuned and follow their Facebook Page x Instagram for more updates.
The Lokal is housed at 126 Neil Road. Look out for the Goethe Institut just at the corner of Bukit Pasoh Road, facing the iconic Pinnacle@Duxton.
