The Marshmallow Tree Cafe
Address: 46 Telok Blangah Drive #01-85 Singapore 100046

There has been an increasing number of cafe owners setting up their entrepreneurial passion in the neighborhood environment. The Marshmallow Tree is one of those new entries (about 5 months old) adding to Singapore's cafe scene.

The Cafe Interiors
The Marshmallow Tree offers a relaxing space where people could chill, hang out and play.

Rose Caffè Latte ($4.80)
The Espresso, with a hint of rose for a lightly floral spiced latte. One of the signature drinks at The Marshmallow Tree's menu that caught my attention. And I am glad that I made the right choice to try something different.
My rose caffe latte was served with a marshmallow tree, which was a roasted marshmallow on a stick, and planted in a miniature pot.
S'mores Pie ($5.80)
They named the S'mores pie "什么是Pie", a rather cute and interesting name for a pie that made me wonder what was so special about it. Yep, S'mores will always win, simple as it is and makes one ridiculously decadent summertime treat. I love the cracker crust and the melting chocolate filling inside. Highly recommended!

Overall, I think that The Marshmallow Tree cafe really stands out on its own; with it's unique theme and cute touches, it is definitely a fun-worthy place to visit.

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind
Address : 7500A Beach Road, The Plaza, #01-337

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind, a rather unique name for a café, has no specific meaning or story behind it's name, the owner just found it's cute and named it that way. I had the opportunity to chat with the young and pretty entrepreneur, Kimberly Yeo, whom is no stranger to many. She's the co-owner of Eusoffungry and Blogger at Strictly Ours.

The cute looking take-out cups on the bright red coffee machine appealed to me, and I couldn't resist taking pictures of them. The brown coffee sleeve bears the logo and name of the café, while the cup had a hand drawn message, quoting "Have A Nice Day" and there was a coffee bean drawing beside it. I thought this was a really sweet gesture, assuming that I am the one holding the coffee cup and reading the message, it would simply make my day!

These pretty looking Petite Cuppycakes ($1/each) were one of the reasons that made me hopped down to Mean Bean & Wicked Grind. I got my fingers sticky with these mini cupcakes, because I wanted to support my friend Amber, who happened to be the baker of these babies.

The flavours of the mini cupcakes as you can see on the wooden board, were Sticky Chocolate Ganache, Earl Grey Lavender, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Vanilla Rose, and last but not least, Lemon Meringue.

The mini cupcakes were too cute, I was tempted by it's looks and got myself 5 cupcakes, one flavour each. The crockery and cutlery were equally pretty, making the cupcakes even more gorgeous looking sitting on the plate.

While enjoying the cupcakes, I randomly walked towards the pastries counter looking at the food menu and desserts, thinking should I try something else as I suddenly felt hungry. Mean Bean & Wicked Grind also serves savory items such as Sandwiches, Salads, Cereals and Parfaits.

Organic Fruit Pressers ($5.00 An Alternative to Coffee or Tea)

After much hesitation, I decided to skip the sandwiches & salads, and ordered another dessert for myself. Sea salt caramel shortbread slice ($4.90) was my pick, hence it was a winning combination of chocolate and salted caramel (both were my favourite). The slice was a tad hard, but I had no difficulty cutting it through with a fork. The Sea salt caramel shortbread is quite honestly, to die for and overall I really enjoyed it.

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind is open Monday to Friday 08:00 am till 6:30 pm, but Kimberly told me that she has plans to open on weekends from February onwards.
Do swing by for some coffee and dessert fix, if you are near Beach Road. And in case you're wondering where is the Plaza, the commercial building is accessible via Beach Road, Ophir Road and Nicoll Highway. All you need to do is to spot the hotel Plaza Parkroyal first, from the main entrance there is a linked walkway through the Plaza, and you should be able to find your way to Mean Bean & Wicked Grind.
