Miam Miam - A Perfect French and Japanese Marriage

Miam Miam, the casual French-Japanese artisanal cafe-restuarant turned one year recently, and I had the opportunity to revisit this popular cafe after many months to affirm the consistency of its signature dishes.

As you probably already know, Miam Miam brings together the flavours and ingredients of the Japanese cuisine and the culinary techniques of the French. The team at Miam Miam has a strong passion for food, and promises to deliver a consistently excellent experience to every customer at Miam Miam

The cafe-restaurant boasts a casual setting and enriched with a French-Japanese inspired menu that draws a huge crowd of families, working executives and teenagers especially. The menu prices are wallet friendly with the highest priced item only at $18.80, Miam Miam offers a range of delectable dishes made from scratch with quality ingredients.
Miam Miam French Toast $10.80
Miam Miam French Toast, a star creation and must try on the menu. The 'legendary' French Toast is unlike other ordinary French Toast, as their freshly made bread is thicker and denser, dipped in the egg mixture and pan fried lightly to crisp on the outside, while the inside remains soft, fluffy and buttery. Drizzle some maple syrup on the tasty French Toast and eat it together with the fresh cream.....Delicieux!
Riz Au Curry $15.50
Baked rice with homemade Japanese curry, pork frankfurters, broccoli, cheese and egg. We were told that the curry was produced with over 30 ingredients, I expected the curry flavour to be very intense; but on the contrary, the egg, frankfurters and broccoli cheese lends a sweet and savoury flavour to the curry rice, I must say that this dish was well executed.
Riz Noir Squid Ink Rice With Seafood $16.50
Squid ink rice with assorted seafood such as anchovies, squid and shrimp, is topped with a moist and fluffy Omu egg that gives a pretty good contrast to the dish. The rice was cooked to the right flavour and served with fresh cooked seafood.
Souffle De Nuage $17.80
A fancy version of omurice with a souffle instead of an omelette and stuffed with home-style fresh tomato sauteed rice inside. The soft and fluffy clouds are made of egg and cheese, I found that there wasn't any prominent taste in egg souffle, but fortunately the baked rice turned out good.
Miam Miam Spaghetti $16.80
One of the signature dish to try at Miam Miam. The pasta is al dente, well tossed and infused with flavours from the french butter, Miam Miam secret broth and shoyu. Sauteed with frankfurters, tomatoes, baby spinach & turkey ham, the pasta is topped with a beautiful soft boiled egg. Mixing the egg with other ingredients together will create a whole new characteristic to the taste and texture of this dish.
Chicken Teriyaki Spaghetti $16.80
Another pasta dish on the menu is the Chicken Teriyaki Spaghetti. The al dente pasta is served with pan seared chicken and Japanese leeks, then slathered with Japanese sauce and other condiments. I find that the chicken teriyaki spaghetti is not as exciting as the signature Miam Miam Spaghetti, and it doesn't have a mouth-watering effect as the former, maybe because it lacks an onsen egg.
Valrhona Chocolate Souffle $13.80
Souffle is always a big hit for dessert lovers, the ultimate dessert. I like the chocolate souffle at Miam Miam as it is decadent and has beautiful chocolate aroma. Needless to say, the Valrhona chocolate souffle is one of the most popular dessert on the menu.
Caramelised Banana Pancake $13.80
For those who love ice cream and pancakes, this pancake topped with premium vanilla soft serve, caramelised bananas and sprinkled with toasted almond nibs is an absolute must try. The homemade pancake is light and airy with the right amount of sweetness.
Matcha White Chocolate $7.80
The sweetness from the white chocolate is well balanced out by the matcha aftertaste. If you like sweet white chocolate and matcha tea, you will like this beverage.
Berries Soda $7.80
These berry beverages looks inviting to sip, and they are sweet with a sophisticated taste of real strawberries. I think the beverage was made from berries flavoured soda mix, but I couldn't care more as it was refreshing and light enough to be appreciated as a summer drink.
