Having a crab dish at most seafood restaurants can be ruinously pricey, as the crabs are usually charged by its size and weight. So if you are a crustacean fan, you probably love the idea of a crab buffet.

Brizo Restaurant & Bar at Park Hotel Clarke Quay has raised its pincers again with its Crazier about Crabs Dinner Buffet, featuring an array of 22 crab centric dishes and a new star creation - Crab in a Pan.

On the buffet, it is hard to look past the sweet-piquant Chilli Crab, a Brizo's signature which is also one of the all-time local favourite crab dishes. The crab dishes that appeal more to me, were the aromatic Heavenly Fragrance Crab, the dim sum styled X.O. Steamed Crab in Egg White and the Salted Egg Yolk Crab. The next obvious must try is the Crab in a Pan, a new introductory dish at Brizo showcasing not just the whole crab served in a pan, each contain prawns, clams, mussels, potatoes, corn and sausages freshly cooked to order with a choice of three sauces - Marineiere, Bouillabaisse and Cioppino.

There were many other things on menu such as crispy Soft Shell Crab, Baked Crab in Shell and new highlights to the smorgasbord include the a la minute Crabmeat Kueh Pie Tee, Indian Chilli Flower Crab Masala and Premium Crabmeat Fried Rice with X.O. Sauce

Besides the seafood boil and cold bar, there is a salad section for the carb-conscious folks, but you shouldn't even be here if you are really looking for greens.

On the sweeter side, the dessert bar features a selection of cakes, sweet shooters, macarons, assorted fruits, ice cream and a chocolate fondue station.

You probably read and heard before people saying that photographing food may be a sign of mental illness. Well, this argument isn't new and valid anymore. I think that this trend which involves taking pictures of food and posting it on Facebook and Instagram will definitely continue and spread like a growth. What are your thoughts?

Are you one of those people showing the world what you eat by photographing your meal, posting pictures perhaps more vividly to food than you might to selfies?

If yes, you’re one of us, stay on. Here are just a few motivations to share about food photography and Burpple, an app that lets you share what you eat with the world.

Before the growth of camera phone and apps, when you ate a good meal, you'd describe it to your friends in person.

What Burpple does: An appetizing food picture from a much-loved cafe or a decadent dessert is likely to convince others it is worth the trip. Who’s going to spend time reading lengthy food reviews whereas a picture is worth a thousands words.

Posting your plate may be a quick, easy way to share the fine details of an incredible meal or a memorable dining experience.

Food is social. It's no surprise that food photography have their fair share on social networking.

What Burpple does: Keep up your appetite with gorgeous photos and useful reviews to influence the millions of people looking for a place to eat, and can get rewarded by attending hosted eat-ups and event parties.

You might get criticism and snide comments from your friends, if you post too many selfies, food pictures or uninteresting stuffs on your Facebook page.

What Burpple does: UNBIASED. Nobody will judge if you post a million food pictures on Burpple, and you can save your selfie posts for others.

Everyone could take pictures, but not everyone has the eye to do a proper shoot, or go into depth as it takes a lot of time and attention.
But it is so much easier to start with taking pictures of food.

What Burpple does: Simply use your mobile phone and the built-in filters of the app can contribute to the mood and success of your shot. The foodie app is meant to be Instagram of sorts, but only for food photos in squares.

You don't really need a super-wow camera to take food photographs.

Wanting people to truly know you may be your motivation for taking pictures of your meals and keeping it as a daily food journal.

What Burpple does: Documenting what you eat tells your friends a lot about who you are, your habits, personality and preferences. Burpple helps you to remember, organise and explore your food moments. It also keeps you updated with the newly open and best places to go.

Check out the brand new Burpple EXPLORE feature here.

Yay! FREE stuff! Everyone loves free stuff.

Burpple is free for download and uniquely Sing-app-ore (Singapore), we should show more love to the locals, right!

Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has earned a strong following in Korea, China and Taiwan due to its unique menu offerings and mouthwatering chicken dishes. The casual restaurant chain has finally made it to Singapore with its flagship outlet at 313@Somerset and a second outlet is slated to open at Bedok Point end of March 2015.

We were told that expansion plans for more Chir Chir outlets are already in the pipeline, and I hope that in the near future there would be an outlet open in the west.

Singapore is having a hot summer (almost all year round), and when the weather gets to you, the first thing you want to have is probably an iced cold beer or an ice cream cone. Whereas in Korea, the locals love to pair cold beer with fried chicken, and the culture gets wildly popular and so perfect that there’s a separate word to describe this pairing, known as Chimaek, which is composed of the first syllables of the words chicken (chi) and maekju (maek) for beer.
Our little island is known affectionately as little Korea due to the influx of many Korean restaurants and shops opening up here. Chir Chir is also one of the those riding on the wave of rising Korean F&B culture in Singapore, but they distinguishes itself by using only fresh, not frozen, chicken married with a myriad of special garlic-soy, spicy and cream-based sauces, and even whipped cream. All proprietary sauces and marinades are imported from Seoul to ensure consistency in flavour across Chir Chir's outlets worldwide.

Chir Chir features a fun and casual concept, and the restaurant space is specially designed to resemble a chicken run with mesh wires and cute touches like eggshell displays and cool illustrations as seen in the pictures above. The restaurant can seat up to 78 person with movable tables and banquet seats offering flexible seating options for both small and large groups.

Chir Chir's signature fried chicken is available in Crispy, Garlicky and Spicy, and can be enjoyed whole, wings only or as boneless tenders. The fresh poultry is deep-fried only upon order and takes about 15 minutes to be ready.
Crispy Fried Chicken ($26.90) / Crispy Fried Tenders ($24.90) / Crispy Fried Wings ($26.90 for 7pcs) - Marinated for six hours in Chir Chir's house seasoning before being battered and deep-fried, the Crispy Fried Chicken, Tenders and Wings boast succulent flesh that is tasty from skin to bone. Each serving is accompanied by salsa and honey mustard sauce.
If you don't like to dirty your hands, use the specially customised tongs (shaped like a chicken claw) provided by the restaurant to hold on to the chicken parts, and tear the meat apart with a fork. Don't be shy to ask the staff to pack the food if you can't finish your meal, but please do not take home the "iron claw" when you leave the restaurant.
Spicy Chicken ($28.90) / Spicy Tenders ($26.90) / Spicy Wings ($28.90 for 7pcs) - The chook, sweet potato cubes and fried toppoki are slicked with a sticky sweet-spicy chilli sauce that packs a real punch. A must try for those who love their spice.

Garlicky Chicken ($28.90) / Garlicky Tenders ($26.90) / Garlicky Wings ($28.90 for 7pcs) - The ultra-fragrant Garlicky Chicken comes ensconced in a lip-smacking house-made soy sauce, sprinkled with minced garlic and fried garlic cloves. Chunks of roasted sweet potatoes and fried toppoki (Korean rice cakes) complete this dish.
Spicy BBQ Roasted Chicken ($32.90) / Garlic Roasted Chicken ($32.90) / Rosemary Chicken ($29.90) - Taking a twist on "chimaek", Chir Chir also offers guests roasted chicken. These succulent whole chickens are marinated for 12 hours then oven-roasted to perfection. The Spicy BBQ version (featured above) undergoes an additional step of pan-frying so that the chicken is evenly coated in sauce. Each is accompanied with salsa, a whole salt-baked egg and a fluffy baked potato with sour cream.
Nest Snow ($32.90) - Served on a hotplate, these spicy Cajun chicken tenders perch on a bed of sweet potato puree luxuriating in a cream sauce flecked with olives and peppers. A swirl of Chir Chir's freshly whipped cream and shavings of parmesan, mozzarella and cheddar makes this dish one of a kind.
Honey Grape Salad ($18.90) - Featuring sweet, plump seedless green grapes with walnuts, pine nuts and almonds, this fruit and nut salad comes dressed with dollops of house-made ricotta and whipped cream. On the side are crispy-chewy shards of baked tortilla drizzled with honey and sprinkled with minced garlic. Note: Photo for illustration only, actual portion served with two baked tortilla.
Mango Salad ($11.90) - Rejuvenate any chickened-out tastebud with this refreshing salad of mixed greens topped with ripe. juicy mangoes, blueberries and tangy yogurt dressing.

To complement the slew of fried and roasted chicken dishes on the menu. Chir Chir offers intriguing thirst-quenchers such as Tok Tok, a collection of four flavoured cocktails, that can be turned into cocktails with the addition of soju; Ladykiller, a mojito slushie that replenishes itself with an upside-down bottle of beer, and Chir Cream Beer, a mug of draught beer crowned with fresh whipped cream.
Chir Cream Beer (350ml $13.90 / 650ml $18.90) - Inspired by a "latte kiss" shared between the lead actors in a hit Korean drama, this quirky concoction comprises draught beer topped with freshly whipped cream. The airy foam is meant to leave a moustache on the girl's upper lip, which her partner should assist in cleaning up with a tender kiss.
Tok Tok (Non-alcoholic $14.90 / alcoholic $18.90) - The infusion of soju transforms these child-friendly cocktails into adults only cocktails, and are available in four flavours. Berry Purple (Blueberry and Forest Berries), Blue Sky (Blue Lemonade), Blue Marine (Green Grape) and Passion Yellow (Passion Fruit). An iSi soda charger is used to fizz the drinks up at the table side before being served.

Chir Chir Dishes I Love Most And Highly Recommended
Nest Snow, Garlicky Chicken, Crispy Fried Chicken, Spicy BBQ Roasted Chicken and Honey Grape Seed. To be honest, there are a lot more dishes I love to try, and these are just a small selection I tried.

Chir Chir is one of the best places to enjoy a good Chimaek. Go in a group of at least 4 to 5 person or even more the better, so you can order to share and enjoy the selection of chicken dishes. Boneless tenders is a lifesaver for those like myself whom is lazy with devouring chicken with bones. If you’re being calorie conscious, you can always opt for salad and sides or the hearty seafood soup, to ease some of the dieting guilt while enjoying chimaek at the same time.
